The West Wing is a family house consisting of two double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, and two twin rooms sharing a bathroom. Ideal for a family holiday, it is available as a weekly let or in non-peak times for shorter breaks.

Anyone staying can enjoy the kitchen garden and produce from it. For those who love gardens, it is worth spending some time talking to Jane Armstrong, our brilliantly talented gardener who will explain all that is going on in the greenhouses, borders and vegetable beds.

There is a tennis court, croquet lawn and endless different walks. The drive around the House and North Front is ideal for bicycling, skateboarding and rollerblading.

For the ornithologist, there is Sir Edward’s Lake, a short walk from the house which abounds with dozens of species of wildfowl and wading birds.

The West Wing is a well-placed base from which to explore the other treasures Northumberland has to offer. Within an hour’s drive of the best of the Northumberland coast, the Cheviots and the Rothbury Hills, we sit at the centre of Northumberland. The Roman Wall is within half an hour and the small roads around make Capheaton a cycling mecca for those who love to don the lycra!
