The West Wing is a family house consisting of two double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, and two twin rooms sharing a bathroom. Ideal for a family holiday, it is available as a weekly let or in non-peak times for shorter breaks.
Anyone staying can enjoy the kitchen garden and produce from it. For those who love gardens, it is worth spending some time talking to Jane Armstrong, our brilliantly talented gardener who will explain all that is going on in the greenhouses, borders and vegetable beds.
There is a Billiard Room (deposit required), tennis court, croquet lawn and endless different walks. The drive around the House and North Front is ideal for bicycling, skateboarding and rollerblading.
For the ornithologist, there is Sir Edward’s Lake, a short walk from the house which abounds with dozens of species of wildfowl and wading birds.
The West Wing is a well-placed base from which to explore the other treasures Northumberland has to offer. Within an hour’s drive of the best of the Northumberland coast, the Cheviots and the Rothbury Hills, we sit at the centre of Northumberland. The Roman Wall is within half an hour and the small roads around make Capheaton a cycling mecca for those who love to don the lycra!

Capheaton Hall is stunning. The West Wing is grand but homely and the garden and grounds are spectacular. Fresh garden produce from the magnificent walled garden was a real treat. Willy and Eliza were delightful hosts and their dogs are gorgeous!

We can't recommend this beautiful place highly enough. The house is lovely, the setting spectacular. The garden was stunning, in full bloom and highly scented. The views from the terrace (and some rooms indoors) are amazing, you would never get tired of drinking them in. The estate is lovely to wander around - they are rightly proud of the wonderful walled garden, but there are also woods, a folly, a lake and a tennis court. William and Eliza were very attentive and friendly hosts, but relaxed and never intrusive, and Louise was also extremely helpful. The resident dogs also provided bonus entertainment for the children! We can't wait to come back.

The Keeling Family - May 2021
We had the most wonderful, relaxing and tranquil time here. We spent more time at The West Wing than we did exploring the area and returning to old haunts. We cannot envisage not returning.
